OBJECTIVES. The present paper intends to present a new simple and effective technique for vestibuloplasty. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Vestibuloplasty is a surgical technique used to improve the vestibular depth before applying dentures. It is widely described in the literature, but nowadays it plays a rather minor role and is rarely applied since the introduction of dental implants and implant-supported overdentures. In this paper, a modification of Kazanjian's technique is described; it consists in placing and keeping dentures in the correct position through one or two bone fixation screws. It is also possible to extend the vestibular deepening to the whole maxillary perimeter. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS. This technique has several advantages: implementation simplicity, possibility to perform surgery in outpatient clinical settings (local anaesthesia with conscious sedation) and reduced tissue contraction after surgery.

Abstract
