This paper presents the experimental measurements carried out during flow boiling heat transfer of R245fa on a Carbon/Carbon surface. The test section with the Carbon/Carbon sample is electrically heated from the bottom and it is instrumented with 18 wall thermocouples to monitor the temperature distribution at different imposed heat fluxes from 50 to 100 kW m-2, refrigerant mass flow rates from 50 to 200 kg m-2 s-1, and at constant mean saturation temperature of 30 °C. Results are here discussed in terms of two-phase heat transfer coefficients and pressure drops. Furthermore, the two-phase flow is recorded by means of high-speed video camera, allowing for a critical analysis of flow boiling behavior of the Carbon/Carbon surface and its activation process.
