L’édition vénitienne de la Theologia naturalis de 1581 et Montaigne

Une édition vénitienne de la Theologia naturalis de Raimond Sebond, parue à quelques mois de distance du passage de Montaigne par Venise les 6 et 7 novembre 1580 et pourvue par son imprimeur d’une « Præfatio » qui semble remplacer le prologue mis à l’Index, peut être analysée comme l’aboutissement d’un parcours, philosophique et linguistique. L’étude du contexte de la Sérenissime et de son monde des livres permet de voir ce parcours comme ayant été accompli par le traducteur Montaigne et par l’imprimeur Francesco Ziletti dans le cadre d’un même réseau intellectuel. A Venetian edition of Theologia naturalis by Raimond Sebond, published a few months away from the passage of Montaigne by Venice on November 6 and 7, 1580, and provided by his printer with a « Præfatio » which seems to replace the Prologue set in the Index, can be analyzed as the culmination of a path, philosophical and linguistic. The study of the context of the Serenissima and of its world of books allows to see this path as accomplished by the translator Montaigne and the printer Francesco Ziletti as part of the same intellectual network.
