The periphery of the ligands has been designed to obtain interactions between the metallacryptate units. By the use of ligands which bear amino (NH2) or 4-pyridyl groups the units assemble into parallel chains and into a MOF-like structure, respectively. In both solids, a honeycomb porous structure is obtained.
