Esistenza e struttura eterna. Il Nietzsche di Severino tra eterno ritorno e volontà di potenza

As it is known, the topic of the impressive philosophical proposal by Severino concerns the affirmation of the eternity of being and the questioning of becoming’s dynamism. This essay aims to investigate the paradoxical convergence, highlighted by Severino, between Nietzsche’s radical criticism of immutable truths and the affirmation of the eternal return as the ultimate sense and incontrovertible truth of existence. The dynamism of the will to power, the creative essence of man and the death of God, understood as the dissolution of the metaphysical categories, acquire their significance only in relation to the eternal recurrence. Only through the eternal recurrence indeed, it is possible to redeem an otherwise absolutely unchangeable past. Solely the eternal structure of the ring of the return justifies the contemporary faith in impermanence, that is, the nihilistic tendency to deny any immutable truth. In this ring, therefore, being and becoming coincide in a perpetual happening.
