The article outlines a proposal to re-generate the system of child and family welfare. This system has not, in fact, over the last few decades contributed to reducing social inequalities, which are instead growing in the country. The current health emergency situation is a prelude to an enormous economic crisis that will in turn contribute to the increase in inequality, poverty and violence against children. At the same time, however, the pandemic also offers lessons, which, combined with the knowledge provided by research, allow us to outline the directions for building a new, necessary and unified child welfare system, which the article briefly describes.

Abstract

The article outlines a proposal to re-generate the system of child and family welfare. This system has not, in fact, over the last few decades contributed to reducing social inequalities, which are instead growing in the country. The current health emergency situation is a prelude to an enormous economic crisis that will in turn contribute to the increase in inequality, poverty and violence against children. At the same time, however, the pandemic also offers lessons, which, combined with the knowledge provided by research, allow us to outline the directions for building a new, necessary and unified child welfare system, which the article briefly describes.
