The paper presents Legislative Decree no. 7 of 2017 which has introduced a set of conflict-of-law rules for same-sex civil partnerships in Italy. The following analysis does not just aim to satisfy a scientific interest. Italian civil partnerships can be entered into by foreign citizens regardless of their citizenship and residence status in Italy. This is of practical relevance for citizens of those States which do not yet provide for civil partnerships in their legislation.
