The article analyzes the development of artificial face recognition technologies in Europe and especially within the EU, in light of the first case decided on the issue. British courts, in fact, were the first to tackle the issue on the basis of EU law despite Brexit. The article provides a general overview of the legal phenomenon, analyses the England and Wales Court of Appeal's ruling, and then makes some observation on the basis of the current developments in the field of AI regulation,
