The treatise Graecarum affectionum curatio (Therapeia of the Greek Maladies) by Theodoret of Cyrrhus (ca. AD 393 - ca. AD 460) holds a meaningful place not only in the history of Christian apologetics, but also in late antique literature and its reception. Here, we focus especially on the arguments advanced by Theodoret against hellenic mythology and cults, associated with demonic activity: indeed, the Curatio provides exceptional glimpses into the “invention of mythology” in renewing the world and the public space.

Abstract

The treatise Graecarum affectionum curatio (Therapeia of the Greek Maladies) by Theodoret of Cyrrhus (ca. AD 393 - ca.
