The essay aims to establish a relationship between two great thinkers, Antonio Rosmini and René Girard, although Girard did not read Rosmini. Some factors that unite the two authors – relevance of anthropology, realism, adherence to Catholicism, thematization of resentment – are highlighted, alongside others that distinguish them. Rosmini’s original approach to resentment is related to the desire for justice and is obviously not conditioned by Nietzsche or Scheler; it is studied here by analyzing a few short passages, in which the (implicit) presence of mimetism is detected. This makes it possible to establish a comparison with Girardian theory and to bring out interesting and new elements in Rosmini’s conception. Thus, the hermeneutic plasticity of the model elaborated by the French anthropologist is confirmed.
