The article is dedicated to the contemporary Russian literature phenomenon of the accidental time travel to the Great Patriotic War. Poetics and typology of the War time travel novels, their distinction from the classic war novel and the strategies of the interaction with the reader are shown. The links between secret history, conspiracy theory and accidental time travel, as well as the tendency to revise the role of definite historic events and personalities are highlighted. The mass popularity of the accidental time travel novel is explained through the creation of a utopia, collocated in the past, where the USSR is seen as a “dreamland” and a model to shape the future Russia. Thus the correction of the results of the Great Patriotic War is no more than a pretext to propose a picture of a “bright past”, an alternative world where the USSR becomes a world leader and evades its collapse in 1991. It is underlined that these novels fulfil an important social role of overcoming the (post)Soviet trauma but at the same time they indicate a lack of new ideas for the modern Russia development.

Abstract
It is underlined that these novels fulfil an important social role of overcoming the (post)Soviet trauma but at the same time they indicate a lack of new ideas for the modern Russia development.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
