This paper provides an overview of the textual transmission of Mir. based on a full collation of all existing Greek manuscripts. The text of Mir. is transmitted in three different forms, all of which stem from a single medieval archetype. The chapter-sequence in each branch of the text-tradition (α, β, γ) suggests a structure of the stemma codicum. This presentation also takes into account a 13th century Latin translation of the text that can be classified in the α branch. Some insights in the philological practices of previous editors of the text are also provided.

Abstract

This paper provides an overview of the textual transmission of Mir. based on a full collation of all existing Greek manuscripts. The text of Mir. is transmitted in three different forms, all of which stem from a single medieval archetype. The chapter-sequence in each branch of the text-tradition (α, β, γ) suggests a structure of the stemma codicum. This presentation also takes into account a 13th century Latin translation of the text that can be classified in the α branch. Some insights in the philological practices of previous editors of the text are also provided.
