Despite not abandoning its ideological principles, the monthly emerged in this period as a catalyst for a culture of resistance and democracy, appealing to a composite readership. By highlighting the rhetorical and visual stratagems employed by its editors, this article reveals how the interaction of narrative, caricatures, and woodcuts generated a common emotional realm, unifying the different souls of the opposition front.
