The paper reports the analysis of case studies on the relationships between citizens and rivers in Central Italy, as part of a broader national research. Socio-spatial relations are expressed in three ways: social formations, power games, planning according to a literature mainly based on the Sociology of the environment and territory. The product is a detailed synoptic table within which secondary analyses can be carried out. The research shows a strong inertia of urban socio-spatial phenomena, after the abandonment of the rivers with the mobile and industrial revolution and a slight rediscovery for recreational, sporting and naturalistic purposes. However, interventions happen in a punctual manner, thus reducing the function of the rivers as a socioecological corridor.
