The emerging application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in language education has reshaped the assessment scales outlined in the Companion Volume (Council of Europe 2020). This study explores the role of AI-driven Wordless Picture Books (WPB) as a cutting-edge resource in foreign linguistic education within Italian middle schools. To this end, an AI-enhanced WPB in the form of a fable was implemented to develop literacy skills among 58 newly arrived secondary school students. The WPB was designed using generative AI software and applied through laboratory-based teaching methodologies. AI-driven WPBs actively contribute to designing curricula and personalized teaching for teenage migrants. They support cross-age and cultural tutoring within plurilingual learning environments and enhance literacy and motivation.
