The paper focuses on the terraced houses built on the volcanic southern slope of Pompeii, through the presentation of new data, collected from the investigation of the so-called Sarno Baths Complex (VIII 2, 17-21). The building is a peculiar residential and thermal facility, located on the south-western portion of the city. Since 2016, it is being investigated by the University of Padua, under a specific agreement with the Archaeological Park of Pompeii. In this paper, data acquired both by the MACH project and by more recent stratigraphical investigations at the upper level of the complex, inside the house at civic 21, will be synthetically illustrated. The ongoing data processing is gradually allowing the comprehension of the history of the occupation of this urban portion and the reconstruction of the external area originally overlooked by the building.
