This paper analyzes and compares two particularly significant essays concerning Giangiorgio Pasqualotto’s interpretation of Nietzsche, highlighting, on the one hand, the concept of “endless hermeneutics” as a radical critique of truth and of the Western metaphysical tradition, and, on the other, the complex relationship between Nietzsche’s thought and Zen Buddhism. In the first essay, through a deconstruction of the notion of metaphysics and of the role of language, thought emerges as an infinite interpretative process without ultimate foundations. The intercultural comparison with Zen Buddhism, developed in the second essay, instead points toward an overcoming of the proliferation of interpretations in the direction of a practiceof self-emptying and non-attachment. From the interaction between the two essays emergesa conception of philosophy as a transformative exercise, capable of redefining the relationship between knowledge, life, and truth, and configuring itself – starting from Nietzsche and beyond Nietzsche – as an essential legacy of Pasqualotto’s philosophical work.
