A mini TEPC without field tubes of 0.9 mm diameter sensitive volume and 2.7 mm of external diameter has been constructed. With such a mini counter we have measured the physical quality of the therapeutic proton beam of the Centre Antoine-Lacassagne of Nice (France). RBE values have then been calculated from microdosimetric spectra by using a weighting function. High RBE values have been assessed at the SOBP distal edge. Comparison with radiobiological measurements, which were performed on the same beam, shows a remarkable agreement.

Abstract
