Compared cognitive profiles of 20 dyslexic children (aged 90–114 mo) with those of 20 controls matched for age, gender, and social background. Dyslexic Ss scored significantly lower on several Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children—Revised (WISC—R) subtests and on the Full Scale IQ. Results confirm the hypothesis that dyslexic children show significant variabilities across cognitive functions and irregularities within single cognitive areas.

Abstract

Compared cognitive profiles of 20 dyslexic children (aged 90–114 mo) with those of 20 controls matched for age, gender, and social background. Dyslexic Ss scored significantly lower on several Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children—Revised (WISC—R) subtests and on the Full Scale IQ. Results confirm the hypothesis that dyslexic children show significant variabilities across cognitive functions and irregularities within single cognitive areas.
