The article analyses the role orality and musicality played in the Italian translation of Le Petit Chaperon Uf (Cappuccetto Uf) by Jean-Claude Grumberg. Though a theatre text is perceived as inherently oral, the attention paid to orality and musicality in the Italian translation of Le Petit Chaperon Uf is mainly the result of an effort to exalt the “singability” a translator of children’s books should always pay attention to, as Riitta Oittinen teaches us. Paying attention to those dimensions was also necessary as they serve the purpose of ensuring the respect of both the aims of Grumberg’s dramatic writing and of French theatre for young people.
